Under Cover, his sixth release, finds Steve taking bold swings at some of pop and rock’s most iconic songs, from the slinky funk of Bowie’s “Golden Years” to a laid-back, bluesy interpretation of “A Hard Day’s Night” that’s dripping with emotion and soul. 

Seven of the ten songs feature Baskin’s powerhouse band, The Fourteens. They found themselves in top studio form, capturing the spirit of the originals while delivering the organic, lived-in sound that’s become Baskin’s signature – packed with guitars, organs, pedal steel, horns and harmonies.

The album combines six new recordings with four cuts from previous releases—including an up-tempo take on Queen’s “Killer Queen” that blends a rockabilly beat with a klezmer-style horn break. The track list also includes crowd-pleasers like “Suspicious Minds” (Elvis Presley), “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” (Tears for Fears), “Night Moves” (Bob Seger) and a daring rendition of “Under Pressure,” the anthemic collaboration between David Bowie and Queen.
