Help us out by introducing your friends to our music and come out to see us live!

Nice words from Awaken Music about Naked  If its textured Americana alt/pop-rock that you're into, then you'll dig Naked, by Atlanta-based, Steve Baskin. Surrounded by a stellar band, they create soundscapes that accurately articulate each song and Baskin's vocals.

Album opener, Catch Me If You Can, is overly poppy, and lends itself to all listeners. It comes across like a blend of Counting Crows and Blue October. Later track, A Day in My Shoes seductively explodes with a great, soaring lead guitar riff. The melodies aren't quite as singable, but the hooks come at you one after another.

Something Smells Fishy belongs main stage at Bonnaroo. Its jammy and catchy all the same. Clearly, these guys know their way inside a studio. Their sounds are solid, and they all complement each other song after song.  April14, 2010

500 Songs for Kids at Smith's Olde Bar Steve was asked to play song #49 of the 500 tunes being played for the Songs for Kids Foundation.  Steve will play the BeeGees' smash Stayin' Alive on the last night of the eight day event.

Nice mention on Susan Kay Asher's blog this week.  Susan writes a great Atlanta entertainment blog.  Here, she talka bout the tunes from Naked and our approach to cover tunes.  Check Susan out at

Steve is back at Red Light Cafe in Atlanta on Friday, April 9.  Thanks to everyone who came out on Friday.  Great crowd.  Fun to play to!  Caught the end of Jess Godwin's set. She's a really talented Chicago singer.  Catch her if you're in her neighborhood.

On the radio again!
Steve joined Warren Lawrence live on WKNY in Kingston, NY to talk about his music. Warren's playing Catch Me If You Can and I Think I Love You. So if you're near Kingston, call him up and let him know you love the music.

Steve is at Red Light Cafe in Atlanta on Friday, December 11.  Steve, Alex and Zoot will be playing a cool acoustic set at the Red Light Cafe on Friday, December 11. Steve's taking the songs back to where he wrote them -- on the guitar. Alex Slinin will be there playing his cool melodies and amazing leads (even planning on singing along). Zoot will be singing and playing the accordion and anything else he decides to bring.  The show is scheduled for 7:30P -- they should be on by 8.

A fun time at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta!  The Wandas opened the show and were excellent.  The Duhks were a treat.  Very eclectic approach to excellent Americana music -- even though there from Canadia.  Check both bands out and thanks for coming!

Catch Me If You Can was the #10 most added tune in the US on the ACQB charts for the week of August 24!

Catch Me If You Can is on the radio.  The opening tune from Steve's new album Naked is on the radio.  Just added on KLBQ-FM in El Dorado, Arkansas; KSPI-FM in Oklahoma City, OK; WOCO-FM in Oconto, WI; WQXQ 101.9 FM in Greenville, KY; KBMO 93.5 FM in Benson, MN; WSQL 1240 AM in Brevard, NC; KYFM 100.0 FM in Bartlesville, OK; KCBZ 94.9 FM in Seaside, OR (playing Naked too!); KYTI 93.7 FM in Sheridan, WY and WCMJ 96.7FM in Cambridge, OH -- we're doing CD give-aways beginning next week in Cambridge.

Steve's new album Naked is now available at
CDBaby.com, iTunes, Amazon and right here.  Steve has finished up work on Naked, the follow-up to his debut album I Sometimes Think.  The new record continues down the path that his debut album, I Sometimes Think, began with singer/ songwriter power pop spiced with a bit of Southern fried seasoning, and he has expanded his range with new styles, sounds and themes. While I Sometimes Think largely explored emotions around love and relationships, Naked’s themes run all over the place – love; love gone bad; running; the stress of the office; the Zen of the river; runaways; prostitution; and death.

Over 6,000 plays for Steve so far on

Have you ever run a 6K?

Chances are, if you're a runner, you've crossed many 5K finish lines. But a 6K? African women and children walk an average of six kilometers every day just to secure safe drinking water for themselves and their families. Can you imagine having to trek 6K (that's 3.7 miles!) just for water? The Dow Live Earth Run for Water seeks to leverage the power of entertainment to ignite a global movement aimed at solving the most critical environmental issues of our time.

The Dow Live Earth Run for Water—to take place April 18, 2010—is a series of 6K run/walks happening over the course of 24 hours in 192 countries, featuring concerts and water education activities aimed at igniting a massive global movement to help solve the water crisis.

Steve and the band are joining Rob Thomas to support the cause.

  • Steve and the Band are at Smith's on Saturday, October 17 opening for international touring artists, The Duhks.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba-based Duhks have always gravitated towards traditional roots-based song structures, but they've never stopped evolving since their inception five years ago. Due in part to a collective musical worldview that knows no boundaries, that evolution led the band to their latest offering Fast-Paced World, the first Duhks record to feature wunderkinds Sarah and Christian Dugas (replacing vocalist Jessee Havey and percussionist Scott Senior respectively). It's an album that reflects the quintet's newfound confidence, with Sarah bringing five original songs to the band's encyclopedic collection of originals and covers both old and new.
